u.METER+

The u-METER+ is the single-phase option for our remote, wireless, monitor node. It has to be attached to the power supply of the load/circuit being monitored with a two-wire cord. The unit typically has one external CT coil but it can be configured with two CT coils if both legs of a split-phase circuit require monitoring. The u-METER+, is designed to be installed in parallel to a load with no electrical connectivity wherein the high amperage does not run through the unit. It is powered by a 110V-250V source which is converted into a 6V AC supply by an on-board, UL listed transformer. The unit is housed in a UL rated plastic enclosure and contains a printed circuit board based monitoring, analysis and communication system. The unit has connectors where low voltage cables are attached to feed signals from external CT coils for measurements from the existing electrical wiring. There are no relays for load management and this unit is strictly for monitoring electrical parameters at a highly granular level. The unit has an on-board FCC compliant radio to provide data via a wireless network and can also be paired wirelessly to other Akida hardware.

HOW THE u-METER+ WORKS

Overview
The product uses up to, two external current transformers (CT1 and CT2) to detect and monitor the electricity in the power cables. The CT has to be appropriately selected from our range of calibrated CTs, based on the amperage rating of the circuit. The on board TARAS digital energy metering cards are able to provide real-time data on more than fifty parameters for electricity. This data is then relayed using RF wireless frequency of 2.4GHz to a remote Energy Gateway processor in an EMP or a Control Server. The u-METER+, when integrated into a system such as wattGAUGE or e.LOK will provide highly granular data on the power consumption and efficiency of electrical equipment/appliances in a building and help the user save on energy costs.
